Mobile inspection unit for cylindrical shafts

In manufacturing, the production of cylindrical components represents an important segment. Developing machine-vision algorithms to detect, for example, surface defects is a key step in improving both production flow and quality assurance.

The client had multiple requirements. On one hand, they needed a safe, flexible and user-friendly setup to present cylindrical parts to a camera and lighting system. On the other hand, the setup also had to be easy to transport for demonstrations at external locations.

We developed a setup that met all requirements. The final solution is a mechatronic system integrated into a transportable flight case. It includes flexible camera and lighting integration options, along with the necessary safety measures.
